OhioLINK Information

1. Go to the OhioLINK central catalog: http://olc1.ohiolink.edu/search/.


2. Search for the book you need. If OhioLINK does not have the book you need, you may request the item you need through CCU Library’s interlibrary loan system. For further information, see: Interlibrary Loans.


3. When you find the book you are searching for, click on the link labelled, “Request This Item.”


4. You will then be linked to a page where you will be prompted to give the name of your institution. From the “pull-down menu,” select “Cinc Christian.” (For those not familiar with using pull down menus, simply click once on the arrow next to the box on the screen. A list of colleges will appear. Click once on “Cinc Christian.”)


5. After you have selected the name of your institution, click on the box labeled, “Submit Above Information.”


6. You will then be linked to a page where you will be asked to provide your name and your barcode number. For the barcode number, type in the 14-digit barcode number from the back of your Cincinnati Christian University ID card.


If you do not have a barcode, you will not be able to request books through OhioLINK. Stop by the library or click here, and we will provide you with a barcode.


7. After you have filled in this information, click on the box labeled, “Submit Above Information.” If you have successfully submitted the request, you should then receive a message that reads “Item requested through (NAME OF LIBRARY HERE).”


(If you receive any other message than this one, contact the library for assistance.)


You can then:
a. click on the box labeled “Start Over” if you wish to perform another search in the catalog, or
b. click on the box labeled “Regular Display” if you wish to return to the catalog record of the book you requested. Or
c. to exit the OhioLINK catalog by moving on to another web page or exiting your Internet Explorer.


8. The book should arrive at our library in about 3-4 business days after your request is submitted. The library will notify you when the book you requested arrives, and you can pick it up at the circulation desk.


The OhioLINK system is very user-friendly. I have tried to thoroughly outline every step involved in submitting a request, so it may sound as if the procedure is more complex than it actually is. Basically, once you have located a book you want, you simply request it on-line by submitting your institution’s name, your name, and your barcode number. It’s that easy!
